Eight-DAY TERANGA TOUR OF SENEGAL
Day One
Arrival, assitance and transfer to your hotel of choice (3-5 stars) in downtown Dakar. Orientation and Dinner.
Day Two
After breakfast, full day city tour of Dakar. You will pass by the Independence Square, the Kermel artcraft market, the Presidential Palaza, the IFAN musuem, the Cathedral, the colorful market of Sandaga, the Great mosque, the sand painting gallery, the University of Dakar and big handicraft market of Soumbedioune.
Day Three
Discovery tour of Gorée island. You will tour the ancient slave dungeon where the curator will trace back three centuries of black slave trade. A tour of the island will take you to the 1830 catholic church, the fortress of Orange on top of the Castel Hill and the Musuem of History.
Day Four
After breakfast, depart for the phenomenal Pink Lake. Discover the incredible rose colored body of water with hundreds of men and women harvesting the salt and continue up and down the sand dunes from the Sahara desert. Stop en route for lunch in Thies, the second biggest city of Senegal. Continuation to St Louis.
Day Five
Early morning departure for the third largest bird sanctuary in the wordl. A cruise on the river Senegal will allow you to see thousands of pelicans, whistling ducks, herons, cormorans, storks, pink flamingos, iguanas, warthogs, jacals and more. Late afternoon, board a horse drawn-carriage to discover St Louis, the former capital of Senegal and colonial seat of the government of French West Africa. Its lay-out is similar to that of New Orleans. Stroll in the streets where the ancient buidings have withstood the whims of time and catch a sunset at the fishing village.
Day Six
Today you will leave the former capital for the Saloum Islands. Stop to visit the holy city of Touba with the Biggest mosque of West Africa, its library with tons and tons of manuscrits. Stop en route for lunch. Afternoon, relaxation and leisure.
Day Seven
After breakfafast, discover the renowned birds' paradise of the Saloum Delta while boat cruising on the river channels to different village in this region. You will socialize with the different tribes in these villages and learn about their traditions, beliefs. A country lunch awaits you. Afternoon, continuation to Saly resort.
Day Eight
After breakfast, board on 4X4 jeep to go on a Safari at the Bandia animal sanctuary. Return by noon. Afternoon, leisure and relaxation. Late night transfer for an early morning flight.
